Parent Information Night

All Year 4 and 5 parents have been invited to a presentation on Tuesday evening 29 October at 7pm, in the Holy Family Library regarding our plans for the implementation of a 1:1 iPad Program for Year 5 and 6 2014. At the meeting we launch our website link, outline how technology has the potential to engage students in ways not previously possible, to improve learning outcomes, to create new learning possibilities and to extend students’ interaction with their local and global communities. Current research preparing our children with essential 21st century skills and the new Australian Curriculum, will also be presented.

School Visits

Staff from Holy Family visited the following schools to view current iPad programmes in action. During these visits they were upskilled in best practice using constructive and research Apps, so as to enable our students to best use this personal learning device.  Staff had opportunity to explore ways these schools have structured the physical environment of their classrooms. This will support the direction for Holy Family in 2014 and beyond ensuring that all school improvements align with recognised learning environments that support  future learning.

iPads in the Junior school

Staff in K -2 have been led by Lisa Gaynor in the investigation of the effective use of iPads so as to make learning more meaningful.

This has provided both teachers and students with further opportunities to explore the depth of Apps, resulting in a greater understanding of ways iPads can support and challenge learning. Some learning with iPads has been instructive and we have sought to utilise constructive Apps with the purpose of empowering our students to show their learning and challenge their process of thinking.
